David: "Tell Them to Love One Another, and All Will Be Well"

David describes an overdose at 19 in 1979, praying for help after finding himself out of his body, and being guided by a gentle spirit he calls Bob across the Earth and stars, where he says he was told that God is the energy in everything and heard Jesus say, "Tell them to love one another, and all will be well."

Medical Details

In 1979, at age 19, after a day of drinking and smoking marijuana at a party in Warren, Michigan, he snorted a substance he now believes was an early form of crack cocaine. He became dizzy, lay down on the grass, and later found himself out of his body while his body lay in a chair. He did not go to a hospital; he says he re-entered his body around sunrise.

The Experience

In 1979, David was nineteen and running with the wrong crowd in the South End of Warren, Michigan, bordering Detroit. He had saved money and packed to move west for a fresh start, but decided on one last party. After drinking all day, he snorted a substance a friend brought, now believing it was an early form of crack cocaine. His friend warned him it could kill him, but at nineteen, he says, he laughed it off.

He grew dizzy and lay down. He then found himself in the family room hearing sounds from his body, like the parts of a bell, fading one by one into silence. The loud music became painful, but he couldn't touch the stereo. He saw his body lying in a chair and, terrified, remembered what he had done. He prayed: "God, I really messed up this time. I really need your help."

A spirit appeared by the door, first as glowing colors, then as a man with curly hair and dark eyes. Without moving his lips, he said he was there to help. David calls him Bob. To earn David's trust, Bob told him things only David knew from early childhood and about his family.

Together, David says, they traveled. At the pyramids of Egypt he saw them both new and as they are today. Flying high above the Earth, he saw energy flowing between the planet and the universe, bright places and darker ones. He saw spirits like Bob guiding souls, and other souls who had not gone to the light, whom spirits like Bob help. He saw the whole planet glowing with an aura, and Bob told him its name is Gaia and that humans are hurting her by not living in harmony.

Asked who made all this, Bob explained that God is the energy in everything, that everything is part of God, and that God does not judge. Then a white light surrounded David, and a figure appeared who looked like the picture of Jesus from the Lutheran school he had attended. He said one thing: "Tell them to love one another, and all will be well." Then he laughed. For the first time, David felt he was worth something.

In a glowing town near Earth, before a council of spirits at a horseshoe table, he was shown the things that shaped his life, and was told he had chosen his parents to help them on their path. Given the choice to stay or return, he wanted to stay. Bob told him he would marry soon, have children, one very different from the others who would need him, and face a hard life. Thinking of the wife and children waiting for him, he chose to go back. Bob touched his lips, asked him to share his story, and David dove into a cleansing river and followed a glittering trail home to his body.

How It Changed Their Life

No one believed him at first. About three months later a friend he had warned about drinking and driving died, and after that David firmly believed the experience was real. He married, had four children, and his wife was the first to believe him. He began sharing his story in 1998.
